The 2008 Yarden Rom shows seductive aromas of cherries, blackberries, cocoa, orange blossom and warm spices. From the first drop, the wine reveals the flavor variations of ripe fruit, smoke, dark chocolate and cassis, which are rounded off by traces of minerals and anise. The wine is dark red to purple in color and has great body and a long finish. Even if the wine is absolutely ready to drink now, it will continue to improve in the bottle over the next few years and will remain a drinking pleasure for more than a decade. Serve Yarden Rom as part of a feast with flavorful meat dishes such as leg of lamb, prime rib fillet or braised venison.
The 2008 Yarden Rome is made up of 41% Syrah, 33% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes for this wine come from hand-picked vineyards in the central and northern Golan Heights. It matured for 21 months in French oak barrels and was bottled without filtering.
Yarden Rom is a product of the collaboration between Zelma Long, an internationally recognized winemaking expert, and Victor Schoenfeld, head winemaker at Golan Heights Winery. These two have been working since 2002 to create the best possible wines and see Yarden Rom, made for the third time with the 2008 vintage, as the product of these efforts.
